Developing a New Major

the freshmen in the what’s a game class turned in their videogames and they weren’t too bad. Some did a better job at hte game angle and others did a better job at the serious game angle (part of the assignment – teach something/advertise something/promote an idea). But all playable, all had sound. One even had a cutscene at the beginning to set up the story. That was cool.

So I want to put them online so their family and friends can see them. And to start off the game portal I want the new degree program to support. Students can build up their portfolios. We can use it to promote the program (we can put videos from the game jams and photos from service proects along with documents about the degree, testimonials from students… along with the games and game art students make in different classes)

I inherited a Dell laptop from the dept chair – it’s a couple of years old (the computer, not the chair of the department – man I crack myself up) to play with the game software. Now I can go thru the tutorials and make some handouts for class. FUn times. I have to figure out all that PC jass – like the two button mouse (I’m a Mac person from way way back)
