Sims Carnival (if it’s out of beta)

- the wizard gives you a basic game form and then walks you thru decisions about player control, obstacles, speed

- good way to intro the students to all the decisions game designers have to make and the detail that needs to go into a game design doc

- can have them make the same game and make different choices and compare (and evaluate) the results, what choices are easier to play, how do you explain to hte user what’s going on

- can use to intro the idea of genres since they have the games divided into genres, have them write up description of the games in a particular genre to create a general genre description, talk about feature overlap

- can talk about the democratization of content creation and distribution – a business topic – anybody can create and share, game can be seen and played by anybody, can download other people’s games to see how they’re made/learn from their choices, mod them (oooh – good way to intro the concept of level modding and working on teams because they have a team up feature – rats their game creator (with more power than the wizard) is pc only download – that sucks
