take time on orientation and help island because there are important basic skills

basic tutorials about walking, running, flying – using arrow keys, gives some specific exercises like try to follow an avatar (we could play follow the leader), directions for landing gracefully

basic explanation of camera controls (default = 3rd person, behind and slightly above) and all the different ways to move the camera, mouselook mode (first person, camera = your eyes), focus mode rotating around an object, shifting the camera – getting control of hte camera can make moving a lot easier, make you more comfortable in world

basic expalnation of sittting, standing – talks about basic animations (mentions animations several times in the chapter – diff animations for walking, running, crouching, flying)

goes thru search so you can find places to teleport – might have to change the directions a little if interface has changed (is there still a places tab?)

goes thru friends list (become friends with me so i can teleport you easily and drop inventory on ya) – talks about People tab in search

goes thru saving landmarks, how landmarks are in inventory, create landmark on the world menu, click on the red arrow of the teleport beacon or walk to the spot to make it go away supposedly

more about the map and minimap – map kind of like google earth, can zoom in and out, zoom all the way out to see all the land in SL, see the main continents, all the islands, world map updated every couple of days, you show up on the map as a white circle; mini-map like a radar screen for the area around your avatar – you turn your avatar and the dot ont eh minimap turns green circles are people at same altitude as you, green T is someone above you upside down T is someone at lower altitude

has a good tutorial – search for and teleport to the Spaceport ALpha and practice looking around, moving, doing stuff, – good to walk thru in class maybe or do as homework and assignment is to take you pic on teh rocket or sitting in the auditorium – only do as homework after doing some practice work in class

another assignment – have them find a spot for other people to visit, write up a little travelogue , put it in a notecard (hhhmmmm – haven’t seen notecards mentioned yet) and drop it in inventory of some of their friends or on me and i give it to everybody

can only go up to about 200m (i think i have a jetpack in my inventory – can I give it to students?)

don’t accept teleport offers from strangers unless you have an open mind (and you can always teleport away – go home on the map takes you to a random location, or quit and come back in)
