get a degree – credibility, teaches you how to learn, saleable skill – and gotta have combo of CS and H&S & media
have realistic expectations – most peopel will never design a hit game, mostpeopel in the industry get paid crap wages, work long hour – - because there are so many other people who want their jobs
need education (not schooling) – goes back to his read everything – he has a biglist – history, science, psychology, civilization (he mentions the Durant’s story of civilization – i read that in high school and loved it), some basic literature, the new testament, stuff about interfaces, Scott McCloud’s books on comics, Norman’s design of everyday things (love this book too), development of language. Ok – i need to read some of these too- many sound good – just finding time. (ok – turn off the tv Kim and you’ll have time – hey who let me mom in here)
the big thing here is to be self-directed learner, to read, to ask questions, to be curious about lots of aspects of life.
